Gokyo Lake Trek – 11 Days: A Quieter Himalayan Escape
Gokyo Lake Trek – 11 Days is one of the most serene treks that can be done in comparison to the commonly followed Everest Base Camp Trek. Fewer people use this path. However, the experience is just as enchanting. You cross such dramatic landscapes as turquoise glacial lakes, accompanied by yaks, and spend nights even in the Sherpa villages. With every step during the trek, you are rewarded with sights of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu mountains. Also, the trek to Gokyo Valley, Nepal, offers a chance to discover the nature of the region at your own pace.
Another interesting feature is the trek in the morning to Gokyo Ri to see the sunrise in the Himalayan range. The mountains rise from the clouds to the point that you can see the golden tips in the distance. This moment itself makes the journey worthwhile. Moreover, the Gokyo Lakes trek map and altitude show difficult but conquerable routes to undertake. This is ideal for high-altitude trekkers who do not have time for the Everest base camp trek.
Furthermore, this trek showcases the Sherpas’ life and culture. Here, you will stay in tiny family-owned tea houses, such as in Dole and Machhermo. People embrace you, inviting you to sit for the delicious dal bhat and listen to myths and legends of the Himalayas. Unlike other trails, the Gokyo trek in the Everest region has a homely touch. The trail passes across the country’s longest glacier, Ngozumpa Glacier, and offers an enchanting Gokyo Lake view trek.
Finally, this trail has flexibility, which is important to many hikers as they can hike at their own pace. The 11-day Gokyo Valley trek is best done with a guide, but not compulsory for anyone. However, a guide enlightens an excursion and adds more security as they have insider knowledge of the area of interest. The budget package for the Gokyo Lake trek also covers permit fees as well as accommodation and meals. We recommend this trek to anyone who wants a good level of challenge and also some quiet and rest from their busy life.
